The Vrije Keyser started broadcasting in december 1979. It is still a pirate-radio and what it always was: a tactical tool for squatters and other activists in and around Amsterdam on 96.3FM. Vrije Keyser TV started in september 1998 on A1, an open channel of City of Amsterdam.

On Saturday 29th September and Tuesday 2th October 2001 Vrije Keyser has shown "Statements on war" on the Amsterdam Open Channel A1. "Statements on war" is a response to the war propaganda currently oozing out of every channel of the mainstream media. Within hours, any attempt of “objective” reporting had been smothered and was morally condemned as cold-hearted, or even pro-Osama.
